I admit, I had modest hopes for this little fella. My needs were simple and few - portability, functionality and affordability were all topping my scale. And in the Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Netbook - Ruby RedI more than fulfilled them all. Portability - at sleek and very usable 10.1 inches (and slightly over 1 inch thick) the excess case bloat has been kept to a minimum and the screen is wide enough to allow the viewing of the width of an entire page at a time. The 6-cell battery does add some weight making the whole kit and caboodle top out at 2lbs 15.2 oz. Not a back breaker by any stretch (it fits neatly in my purse) and with a 160 gig hard drive and a 1.7 ghz processor it actually exceeds the specs on my 15.4 inch Toshiba Satellite! Functionality - Windows XP is as stable as they come and loading programs on here (with the aid of an external USB CD/DVD drive like theLG GSA E60L Super-Multi - Disk drive - DVDRW (R DL) / DVD-RAM - 20x/20x/12x - Hi-Speed USB - external - black, silver - LightScribe) is a snap! Super long battery life (up to 8 hours when running windows based programs and 6+ while running a USB powered aircard and a USB cooling fan) is an extra bonus. Affordability - at $349 ($358 w/RAM upgrade out the door) you can't beat it with a stick! I do wish that the folks who named the color would have looked at a few more rubies as it is more of a metallic brick red but still very eye catching. I touch type and the keyboard is smaller than I am used to but it is by no means uncomfortable (and my hubby who hunt-and-pecks likes it better than his 15.4 machine). With a few minutes of typing I was flying along like nothing flat! This is the perfect machine for anyone (writers, student's, Realtor's, etc.) who wants to have an easy to use, ultra-portable machine that they can truly carry with them all the time.
