The size of the keyboard seems small in the beginning, but you get used to it. The acer is compact and just the righ size for what I need. Great product.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

The first one I received was defective (the touch pad stopped responding after a couple of hours) but Amazon's return process is great and I had a replacement 5 days later.
I had not used a touch pad before but quickly got used to it. The smaller keyboard doesn't give me any problems either. The Acer is a great value.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I previously had an OQO 2. I used it mostly for internet (browsing/email) and office tasks (open office).
The Acer Aspire one easily beats the OQO for these tasks:
- Keyboard:
Having a real keyboard is really a good thing. This keyboard is soft and works very well.
- Screen:
A little bigger. 1024 instead of 800 horizontal pixels makes browsing the web and writing test much easier.
- Battery:
Huge difference: I easily get 7 hours instead of 2 hours on the OQO.
- Noise:
The Aspire One is really, really quiet. No high pitch fans. It also runs quite cool.
- Weight:
Well, the Aspire One is heavier, no doubt, and you can't put it in your pocket. But at 2.5lb it's light enough for traveling.
- Wifi:
The Aspire One has better wifi connection than the OQO, which is an important factor for this class of machines.

I can only highly recommend this cute little beast for anybody who needs web/office on the go.

This notebook works well for what it is. I use it primarily as a media device; it stays connected to my stereo and TV most of the time. I use a Firefly Remote and software from Snapstream. Rather than paying $300 for a device that plays your media through your network on your home AV system but CAN'T be used for anything else, why not pay a few dollars more and get something that does all that, and CAN be used for tons of other stuff. I play DIVX movies through my wireless network and playback is smooth and looks fine on my TV. The first thing I did was uninstall most of the add ons that came pre-installed. Including (gasp!) the anti-virus package. Having done all that, it runs pretty fast now. This machine will not be used for anything important, no passwords will be typed on it, no banking, and only my least cared about web based email account will ever be accessed. Get an external cd/dvd burner and make your restore disks so if something does go wrong you can get back online without too much hassle. I had one program that would not launch because the screen resolution was not adequate. Plugging in an external monitor temporarily was a quick workaround. The camera seems to give a pretty clear picture. I only tested it by clicking on it in Windows Explorer since I don't video chat. The speakers are under the unit so if you want to hear them, try propping it up so that the sound can get out better. Battery life from the 6-cell is about as expected, shy of the the 6 hours that they claim but good for 3.5 with average use. It sticks out 3/4" beyond the back of the computer. I don't like the mouse pad. It's too small, doesn't work well for me, and the buttons are not easy to feel or click since they are totally flush with the case. You can plug your favorite mouse or touchpad into one of the 3 USB ports so no problem there if it starts to drive me TOO crazy. For $350, this computer works as well or better than expected. Portability is superb.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Strongly recommend to not buy ACER Aspire One. Less than 3 months after purchase, the monitor cracked and no longer works. Upon returning it for warranty service and repair, was told it is not covered as it is physical damage. I explained that it was on a hotel desk one night working and did not work when started the next morning. The service technicians response was that I had probably closed the notebook with only one hand and that could damage the monitor. It is not covered by warranty. Such a piece of junk should not be considered a notebook/netbook that is used for travel. It is absurd that it is so poorly constructed that closing it with one hand would destroy it.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

It is such a joy to carry around a computer the size of a book and not have to lug around a traditional laptop. The 10.1" screen is a perfect size with great clarity and reasonable performance. This model can easily be upgraded to have 2GB of memory from the standard 1GB that comes with it. Earlier models were a nightmare to upgrade. The 160GB drive is great and I partitioned mine so I can load Vista (comes with XP) and Linux (Ubuntu does not totally work without tweaks but Fedora does).

The red finish of this looks great. The red is more like a brick red or the red that Motorola uses on the Razor. It does not leave fingerprints as bad as the Asus EEE.

The keyboard works pretty well and while it is not full size you can adjust to it fairly quickly.

Battery life tends to be around 5 to 5.5 hours for my average use which is awesome. The newer Asus supposedly gets 9 hours but I rarely ever have to use it more than 5 hours and I'm a geek. So the style of the Acer fits me better.

The rest of the specs are nice: 3 USB, Giga network jack, and G wireless all work flawlessly (unless you're talking Linux and that is always up to the distribution if all the wireless works).

Love my Acer One netbook and take it everywhere with me. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I really like this product. It's dirt cheap and has all of the components of a larger notebook. I am computer illiterate, almost, and I found this to be very user friendly. It even has a web cam already installed which I haven't figured out how to use yet. I bought my son-in-law one and he absolutely loves it. He has a $3,000 notebook but chooses to take this one (acer) to work with him. Everyone who sees this computer asks us where we got it. I can just imagine how nice it would be for students, from junior high to college, to help them with their homework. It doesn't have a cd or dvd player but you can buy an attachment for $60 to listen to cds and you can attach your dvd player to the acer and watch your movies. It has a battery life of about 6 hours, which is nice. I can't say enough about this product, as you can read. Go buy it right now and thank me later. Thanks for the opportunity to push this product. Acer Aspire One 10.1"

Pros:
- Quality build construction
- Very good keyboard
- 8+ hour battery life
- Extremely easy to upgrade the RAM
- 160gig hard drive

Cons:
- Integrated webcam is low resolution
- Large battery pack makes it a tight fit for most 10.1" sleeves/cases
- No integrated bluetooth

Let me begin by saying I did 90% of my graduate thesis on this little machine, and it's a wonderful deal at less than $400 (with a case and 2gig RAM upgrade). Typing is comfortable, and the keyboard is responsive and easy to use. The acer keyboard is very good.

I've owned the Acer Aspire One for about two weeks now - and I think it's an excellent little netbook - especially with Windows 7 coming out soon.

I haven't tried many netbooks other than the Acer Aspire One 8.9" and Dell Mini 9. The smaller acer is really nice too, but I prefer the larger screen. A direct comparison with the Dell Mini 9 will follow...

My friend got the Dell Mini 9 because he wanted the bluetooth and to hackintosh it. The Dell Mini 9 has equalivalent or better build quality than the Acer, it just feels more "solid". However, the Acer screen is better in both our opinions. Although the Dell is really nice too, there are two major weaknesses - the first depends on your budget:

1. Price - the Dell Mini 9 (note the smaller screen size) is much more expensive than the Acer for any similar configurations. The Dell also comes with a smaller battery.

2. Keyboard - the Dell Mini 9 has a TERRIBLE keyboard. The apostraphe key, which should be adjacent to the enter key, is below the period key on the Dell. What the hell. It's where the ALT key usually is.

This turns out to be a major problem when trying to use the Dell for chatting or writing any papers. My friend ended up not hackingtoshing it because he hardly uses it anymore. It just sits on his bookshelf. The keyboard is so bad, the netbook is pretty much useless because of it.

On the other hand, I use my Acer every night. It's perfect for browsing the web, writing a few emails, chatting with friends, and catching up on facebook. I don't tired typing on it even after hours of use. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I think this is a terrific little Netbook. It's portable, lightweight and relatively fast given what it's supposed to be used for - email and simple internet. If you attempt to overload it with programs or expect it to react just as a regular notebook would - you will be disappointed. For basic email and internet use - it's great. I've had no problems with the keyboard and I don't find that the screen has much glare at all. Again - if you adjust your expectations and realize this isn't a notebook and you can't treat as such - you will love it as I do! I loved my acer computer when i got it. It is a ton of fun and does everything a big computer does. BUT... my keyboard is already giving my trouble after one month. The number one key and the key below it stopped working. It makes it impossable to type web addresses without a one key. The other issue is the screen has a lot of glare. You can hardly use it outside. A big problem for me because i'm always outside using my laptop while my kids play. Bottom line. I still like the computer. The keyboard problem can be fixed and I can buy a screen cover that reduces glare. It's still a great little toy. Good battery life. I can use it all day. I also love the size because I can type with one hand. And it fits nicly in my bag. Hope this helpsGet more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

What a great second laptop this Acer makes. I use it for times when I need to access the internet but don't want to lug my main laptop into whatever room I'm in, or bring it out wherever I need to go. I have to say right at the top that I'm not a big fan of the small form factor laptop genre in general. I've given them plenty of chances -- remember those dinky Toshibas with the webcam on the swivel and the 3x7" screen? No? count your blessings -- but they've all managed to let me down for one reason or another. Batteries that don't live up to their longevity hype.. lousy performance.. overheating.. poor durability.

So it was with some trepidation that I undertook a work project to determine if the latest round of netbooks could work feasibly in a specific work environment. This is a workflow that begs for a small machine that has lots of battery life, at least 1024x screen resolution and brightness, a *usable* keyboard, durability, and enough performance to run a Citrix session. Expandability is a plus too -- VGA out, and at least two USB ports. Good WiFi radios. And that's it. Oh, and do it for under $400, OK.

The first unit that came in was the Aspire One. Although it was appealing right away, with sleek looks and a bright screen, it suffered the same malady of all the other Win netbooks I've seen: XP Home. Granted, Pro is available, but the WiFi and power features of newer operating systems just aren't in XP. And, as usual, the Acer was loaded with enough crapware (including the dread McAfee Suite and a 60-day trial of MS Office Home&Student) to turn the system into just another bloated laptop with a screen that wasn't big enough.

XP had to go. But what to replace it with? Any Linux distro is out of the question given the target environment. I didn't have an eval copy of Vista that would work. But I did have this Windows 7 Release Candidate, that promised to be fully functional until next March. Would this possibly work on such a small "underpowered" system?

The Win7 Compatibility Analyzer said "go for it". So I took the plunge. After bumping the RAM to 2GB (one caveat: there is nothing in the manual to show you how to do this, and the bottom cover on the RAM slot is very difficult to remove; you have to squeeze it in from the ends a bit to pop it out), and using the included recovery software to create a recovery disk set (fortunately, I have a USB DVD burner; I guess that's one way to keep the cost down on these -- don't include recovery disks -- eegads), I fired up my freshly downloaded Windows 7 RC 32bit image and did a "custom" install (the only option, even though "Upgrade" is listed in the win7 install menu; you can't upgrade anything but Vista).

Talk about night and day. The install went perfectly, with no driver issues *at all*; the few drivers that weren't included in Win7 installed from the driver images I downloaded from Acer support, and went in without a hitch. The system didn't find my HP Photosmart 3300 printer on the network automatically, but once I gave it the IP address it located the printer and installed the drivers. No 120 meg HP download required.

And the Aspire One runs Windows 7 as if it was designed for it. The "Windows Experience" rating is 2.1, if that means anything, with the low score based on the video system -- but it runs Aero just fine, with no jaggies; everything pops up and down smooth and purty. Streamed AVI video files over the network look great. The 1024x600 resolution lends itself well to HD images. The speakers are only so-so, but considering the size of the system, they can't be more than an inch across, and there's a headphone jack on the side anyway.

And battery life? I used the system from a full charge, battery only, to play a constant stream of music on iTunes from my main system library, while browsing the web.. and watched a full movie on WMP (Midnight Cowboy).. and installed a few programs like Open Office 3.1 .. and surfed some more.. and after 5 hours 20 minutes of this I finally got a "Your battery is critically low" message.

I'll have more details and a video on my blog (http://maximumentropydigest.blogspot.com) soon, but so far, this one's a keeper, and yes, Virginia, you can Windows 7 it.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

When I opened the box for the Acer One 10.1 inch Aspire, I fell in love. It was soooo cute! The compact size and tidy design just made me giddy. The screen was super clear and colorful. Keyboard, finger mouse, speed, sound all good. I read the manual first. Novel idea, I know. And that was the first little glitch. The manual is very generic often stating, "depending on the model." The very first thing I was encouraged to do was activate a factory back-up using Acer's built-in system. Well, you have to have a portable drive to do that. That was the second glitch. I borrowed one from my tech guy at work. Five and a half hours and nine CDs later, the back up still wasn't finished. I didn't have any more discs so I had to abort. I decided to go ahead and use the computer anyway. It was becoming apparent that I would need a portable CD/DVD-rom drive for lots of things meaning an additional $100 at least. I downloaded my iTunes library and my digital camera software. I put Chuzzle on it and Yahoo toolbar. Then, it crashed. Strike three. I got the dreaded System32 hal.dll error message on a dos screen, totally frozen no Windows access at all. The Acer people responded quickly to my email (on another computer), but it was no use. I would have to buy the boot up disk for $20 and the portable drive and another Microsoft Office (used my third download on the license) because the re-boot would swipe it clean. I realized then that I didn't really want a netbook with no internal disc drive. Amazon was very reasonable about my returning it as is. I still think it is a sweet little laptop. Either I got a dud or the things I wanted to use it for were too much for it. My suggestion to Acer is to make the manual more informative. Had I known what the factory back up would entail, I'd have prepared for it. Also, all the solutions they offered me except for one included a model with an internal disc drive. If you buy this netbook, get the portable disc drive too. You're going to need it. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

The Acer Aspire One has been a good product for us so far. Very portable and powerful given it's size.
Pros:
The 10 inch screen is serviceable and a good compromise between a 8.9" screen and a 15.4".
Nice picture. Speed is fairly good. Amazing battery life with the 6 cell model!
Cons:
The track screen (mouse) is kind of small and the "seesaw" mouse button is too firm and works best using your index finger, so it is more cumbersome if your use to being able to click with your thumb.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I've had the 10.1" Acer Aspire One Netbook (160 GB HD/Windows XP/1 GB ram) for several months and really like it. I consider it to be my portable media player/surf the web anywhere type computer. It does not replace my desktop computer. I like a full sized keyboard and larger monitor too much.

The Acer Netbook accompanied our family on a 3 week Asian vacation and it was very handy to have along. We connected easily and fast to several wireless networks at relatives and our hotel.

The AC adapter is dual-voltage although I did have to purchase a small "Power Strip" because the 3 pronged plug is not compatible in Asia.

The Acer Netbook was bounced around quite a bit in my Carry-on Bag and it still looks new/the build quality is very good. On our trip I used the Acer to manage the photos off my camera each day and my son and I shared it to watch movies on our flights (ones I'd previously saved to the HD).

I purchased a splitter so two sets of headphones can be plugged in. The external speakers are not placed in a very good spot (underneath) and you have to position the Netbook on something that does not block the sound if you want to hear them/watch a movie without headphones.

The 6 cell battery can last for a solid 6-7 hours of multimedia usage if not longer. I have not been in a situation where I've had to worry about draining the battery yet.

As others have mentioned, you do have to spend some time (couple hours) cleaning all the "junk" programs off the computer. Ask a "techie" friend if you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself (use START-->RUN-->msconfig to clean up the startup programs as well). I'd recommend purchasing or borrowing an external DVD burner so you can create the three restore DVDs.

I expect that I will have to do a clean install every couple of years (given that it is Windows XP) but for now I can run multiple browser Windows, Windows Explorer and at least one MS Office program all at the same time with no noticeable lag. I have no trouble running iTunes or Netflix streaming videos either.

I've never been a "trackpad" fan and I leave a GigaWare wireless mouse permanently connected to the Netbook (the "dongle" only sticks out of the USB port a quarter inch). I am a touch typist and adapted to the Acer keyboard pretty fast. I tried several Netbook keyboards when I was looking and the Acer was one of the best. The dedicated Function keys are nice. The only separate keys that I miss are HOME and END which are placed down by the arrow keys and require you to push FN to use.

I also have a CaseLogic LNEO-10 Netbook neoprene case that has a side pocket that can hold the wireless mouse and AC Adapter. The Netbook went through all Airport security screening in this case with no one asking me to remove it (they do ask you to take out any accessories like the AC Adapter/mouse so I removed those before going through the screening).

I bought this laptop mainly for use on the internet and love the long battery life. I have a gateway laptop that can run for about two hours without it's "umbilical cord". My new acer can go for up to 7 hours (over a two to three day period) before needing a recharge. I find myself dragging this laptop all over the house and onto the back porch, it's exactly what I was looking for. The processor speed and storage capacity meets all my needs. Also, the built in webcam is awesome, it works flawlessly with gmail video chat. I would recommend this little beauty to anyone in the market for a netbook. I have the 8.5 inch version and think it is great ;but the 10" is more of the same with improvements. The touchpad is very much improved and easier to use. This baby laptop will do as well as laprops costing two or three time as much. By all means buy a mouse unless you love touchpads. The absence of a dvd drive is not as bad as one might think. I watch movies by downloading from my desk computer. The usual junkware is included but is easy to remove and if you mess up the restore function wull put it back to original. The 160gb hard drive wil hold dozens of movies. I am quite impressed with most of the features, I could probably get used to the keybord, but I do not think I will ever be able to work in MS Word on it. Being able to see only one ore two paragraphs of the document (Word 2007 buttons take another inch or so of the already tiny screen) just doesn't work for me. I just can not see how I am editing my 100 pages long thesis on this. It is probably fine for taking notes, but I would not recommend it if you need to work with large documents. As well the touchpad is quite annoying. I would much prefer had Acer kept the traditional two buttons. I am returning mine and investing another 200 to 300 bucks more into something that is still portable, but it is also possible to actually work on it (not mentioning the advantage of being able to see a movie while traveling without having to upload it via USB-).Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I have purchased the Acer Aspire 1 to replace my Fujitsu Notebook which was finally getting to be on its last legs after 7 years.
I'm surprisingly dissapointed, because its "cuteness" value does NOT make up for its faults.
First of all, whom --in their infinite wisdom-- thought of making it super laquered and shiny! The thing is impossible to keep clean and it looks dismal with stubborn greasy fingerprints, no matter how many times I wash and dry my hands thoroughly.
The portability becomes useless when used outside or even while riding (not driving of course) in a vehicle, because the LCD screen pretty much dissapears into oblivion, so why bother.
That's just the beginning. If you're delighted with its size thinking you can just whip it out of your briefcase and do a quick email check or make anything els, forget it. This thing starts up as slow as a 486 , it is super slow, even with just the basics on it, it takes TWO MINUTES and 7 secs to come up. Apparently the solid state feature (which was one of the features I wanted it for), is the culprit.
The worst thing about this computer is the position of the mouse buttons. What mutant made that decision! You cannot possibly navigate and click with one hand because the mouse buttons are on both sides of the pad, so you pretty much need to use both hands to do anything.
This is probably a computer for those patient users who hunt and peck their keyboard and have nothing better to do than wait.... Then again, they better get new glasses, because even when choosing the extra large fonts, they are barely legible.
The only good thing: the size, but beware of the keyboard if you can type, because even for my small fingers, it was extremely difficult to use.
Do not buy this computer if you need it for business--and/or classes purposes, it is going to set you back in more ways than just the dollar amount you paid for it.

I had gotten one for my daughter a couple of months ago and she loved it. I had to get one for myself after that. I found an external DVD/CD and it works real smooth. I wish I had gotten the 2 GB chip from Amazon when I purchased it though. I paid a couple of dollars more. Did a lot of research before buying this net book. I only use internet, Microsoft office and organize my mp3 player with the computer so for me it's perfect. Battery lasts 6+ hours when watching movies. It loads up fast and i haven't found any problems when running a couple programs simultaneously. Highly recommend this computer.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I really like the ease of use and portability of this little computer. Battery life (6 cell) is excellent. Boots up ready to go and with the leather cover I got from VanGoody, it looks like an organizer when carrying it around. Also, fits easily in my travel bag. Extremely pleased.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Purchased this as a second computer in my home and to take on an overseas trip. Great for surfing net wireless at my home. Son has typed one paper on allready. Perfect size. Booting up and overall speed are not problems. The one drawback is that I have not been able to find something to carry the netbook and its power cords in. Other than that I am very pleased with my purchase and its price.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I like this netbook and don't regret my decision. Plus: It's fast. Faster than my old Pentium 4 Toshiba laptop, probably because of the newer technology because the Toshiba was a 2.8ghz and yet it's not as quick as this one. I love the portability and battery life. I sit in bed every night and surf the net, answer emails, finish my website business etc. Battery can go 2 or 3 nights without recharging. Plenty of storage: 160gb hard drive and you can add a SDHC card for backup. I use a 8GB which when full will transfer conveniently to a DD DVD. Minus: Keyboard really takes some getting used to. I have fat fingers and it's tough touch typing on the Acer unless you have the correct posture. The keyboard is however, set up conventionally so the keys are where you expect them to be. The screen is a little small for graphics. I have to add pictures to my website (I sell Pens) and it's hard to judge the quality on this machine because the screen is too small and the resolution is limited. I usually set the pics up on my 17" Toshiba and import them to the Acer over my network. You might as well go ahead and get the external DVD writer with this machine because you are going to want it. Almost impossible to load software over a network or by transferring it to another media. Todays programs are set up to run off a CD that exits on the machine. Summary: Great machine as long as you recognize the limited graphics and can live with a small but not impossibley small keyboard.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Well I've had mine for a month now, and am very happy with it. I feel I need to explain my usage requirements for this machine. I wanted to be able to go online, or type from anywhere in my house, or on vacations. I needed a large enough hard drive to offload 12 mp pictures onto it without worrying about space. My desktop computer at the time of ordering was an elderly dell with 3/4 Gig of memory, and an old processor. This baby is both much faster, and more capable than the desktop, so it really depends on what you're replacing as to how you feel about performance.

Cons:

No Optical Drive. Cuts out the weight, but I am slightly concerned about the ability of installing an operating system from a usb connected hard drive.

Caps Lock key. Everyone complains about the right shift keys on net books, but I'm constantly hitting the left caps key, and can't seem to get Toggle keys (tones when lock keys are hit) to work reliably. Minor annoyance only.

Touch pad. I loathe touch pads of any kind, so I might not be being fair. This one has some funky features I haven't figured out how to turn off, but connecting a usb mouse solves almost all of them, though it cuts into portability.

6 cell battery. Just an aesthetic, it sticks out quite a bit,and none of the selling pics on Amazon include it. I had to go search blogs to check what it looked like.

Finger prints. I didn't think this one would bug me, but wow is it shiny. I'm trying to cover the top with stickers so I'll stop obsessively wiping it. The plastic around the screen is the same shiny stuff, but be aware that it scratches if you so much as look at it funny.

Pros:

Big Hard Drive. So many netbooks have tiny hard drives, and the size of this one was a huge selling point. So what if it isn't Solid State, neither is my 5 year old ipod, but it's still going strong and I've actually dropped it a few times.

Xp. I hate Vista on a laptop. It's on my new desktop, but with 6 gigs of memory, it can't break itself too easily there. Every time I see it listed on a laptop with 1 gig of memory I cringe.

Weight: under 3 lbs for easily 7 hours of battery life, and plenty of ability. My mother is jealous with her 6 lb Toshiba laptop with a dead battery that she hauls everywhere to write.

Wireless. So far the internet has been flawless, though I haven't really taken it walking yet. No dropping though like people kept reporting in the 8.9 inch models.

It does exactly what I wanted it for, and while it wouldn't replace my desktop (screen size mostly) it is my dream laptop. Tiny enough to take everywhere, with enough battery life to be useful, and with an operating system I already used and understand.

The toggle keys bug, and the screwy touchpad kept this at 4 stars for me. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I bought this computer last month. Overall I'm really happy with it. I can't fault it for the obvious things (i.e. if I wanted a computer with a CD drive and Bluetooth, I would've ordered a computer with a CD drive and Bluetooth) but there are a couple things worth noting:

- The touch pad is kinda crappy, but servicable. Other laptops I've used have much better ones. I prefer using a mouse or a gamepad (you can download a free program called Joy2Mouse that lets you do that)

- The 6 cell battery lasts 3.5 hours tops for me. I just write and surf the web and play chess occasionally. Sometimes I look at hardcore Filipino pornography, but that ain't no biggie. I do keep the screen brighter than the default setting, and I never turn my wireless connection off, so that may add to the battery drain. Just be aware that the 9 hours some people are claiming to get seems a little dubious to me.

I have no other valid complaints. This computer is great for the money and lots of fun to brag about. GET INTO ITGet more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

This netbook is wonderful - it's very light which allows me to carry it with me whereever I go, and the battery lasts FOREVER. How many times have you thought of something and said to yourself "I need to look that up on the computer when I get home" and it never happens? With this netbook I can shop, do research, or create documents the moment I have an idea. So many public places have Wifi - no need to buy a larger notebook that requires an additional cost (initially AND monthly) to connect to the internet - with this netbook I am surfing for free! Hotels, restaurants, the gym, you name it - it goes everywhere with me. I love it - no regrets!!! I was reading the low rate reviews, and I have to be honesty. [...] People complaining because they broke their computers and ACER doesn't give a new one. I had two Acer Aspire one, and I recommend to everybody this computer.
It is not a professional computer, but works properly with Office pack, Photoshop and every basic stuff. And my computers didn't break the screen because probably I took care of it correctly.
I'm sorry, but people are damaging the product just because they don't know how to use it.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I did some research on netbooks and was going to purchase the Acer 8.9". However, after doing some hands-on testing I decided on this one. It's been 3 weeks since purchase and I love this thing. It's the only thing I use now. I do own a Dell Laptop but it now gets very little use. I have had 0 problems with this unit. First boot took some time but who cares, you only do it once. Despite what I had read, you can upgrade to 2GB of RAM, which I did. It will register as 1.99GB.

Pros:

Upgradeable to 2GB of RAM
Clear bright screen
Fast boot up to desk top
Plenty of hard drive room
Built in web-cam and mic work perfectly and in low light
Web surfing is just as fast, if not faster then my Dell and work PC
Very light, easy to move around
6 cell battery that actually holds its charge, I get about 6 hours of use
The battery design actually acts as a handle
Touch pad has scroll function
Nice finish and design
Easy brightness adjustment

Cons:

Touchpad could be a tad bigger
Left and right mouse buttons are built into one, like a rocker switch, makes right clicking a bit tricky
Keyboard a little smaller then other units, but nothing you can't get use to
Speakers could be a little louder at max volume
No Bluetooth
No CD drive, but that is how it goes
No backlight for the keyboard which makes it hard to use in the dark

I would have given this a 5 star rating but for the touchpad and no back-light on the keyboard. It does suck sometimes not having a DVD drive but I have found ways to watch movies using my other laptop and software. (HINT ISO RIP and transfer the file!).

All and all I am very happy with this unit and would highly recommend it.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

I would recommend this netbook to anyone who is looking for a second computer. I take this back and forth to class daily and have had no problems. It is light and performs all the functions I need away from home. Highly recommend this product.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

This is a fantastic notebook! The keyboard is easy to use and the screen is adequate. The notebook is very lightweight and easy to travel with. I purchased the upgraded memory and a wireless mouse to go the notebook which make it very convenient to replace my full size laptop which was heavy and bulky to travel with. The 10.1 Acer is a great machine and a perfect size for travel. A friend has the smaller screen version which I find just a little too small for my liking. Battery life is quite good. I have no complaints.

I been using this product for a week and now i will write my review how wonderful it is. i been using it more then my desktop. its only weights around 2 1/2 to 3 pounds in weight. the battery lasts about 6.1/2 hours fully charged the only downside it doesnt have a cd-rom drive.I went ahead and bought one at my local chain store for a good price. Anyhow its not required you get a cdrom drive i decided to get one with it. acer really did a good job with this oneGet more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Compact, lightweight, fast & capable of doing everything most people need when traveling. E-mail, photo editing & saving, getting travel info from the internet are all easily done. Keyboard & touchpad are small, but not cramped. Have had it for 1 month and just love it. Find myself using it at home instead of my 17" laptop because of its light weight. An external optical drive is necessary if you want to install some other programs, but Windows XP has all the basics.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.
